Celebrate Love!

The Little Moe 5K is all about love. We started the race to show our love for Little Moe and to celebrate him. Now we invite you to participate in honor of someone you love – your mom, Little Moe, a beloved pet, or another animal who has touched your heart. As a special tribute to all these loving relationships, we will create a Celebration of Love tribute board, where you can post pictures of your loved ones and together we will create a huge love collage. Bring a photo of your mom, your pet, or any animal or person that you wish to dedicate this event to, and post it on Little Moe’s Celebration of Love tribute board.

About Little Moe:
Little Moe was a brave and incredibly loving, gentle one-year-old pony who was among the 14 Onondaga Rescue Ponies rescued from near-starvation by the CNY SPCA in February 2013. When the SPCA brought Little Moe and his family to Skanda to recover, he was so weak he could not walk, and had to be carried off the trailer into the barn. Skanda gave him 24-hour care, hand-feeding him and syringing water into his mouth because he was not able to drink on his own. Volunteers from the community gathered to help. In that week following the rescue, Little Moe seemed determined to survive. Even in such a frail state, he exuded love, and was soft and gentle and true. Little Moe passed away at the end of that first week. Everyone who met him was deeply touched by his purity and innocence, and by his courage: he did not give up, he did not hold on to hurt, but stayed true and open. In this way, Little Moe shows us what is possible for us, too. Skanda created this walk/run to celebrate Little Moe, and to bring attention to CNY SPCA horse rescue and to all the vulnerable horses who need our help now.
